New CIRCOMOD policy brief showcases open tools for advancing circular economy policy
The CIRCOMOD project has released a new Policy Brief as part of its ongoing series aimed at supporting evidence-based policymaking for the circular economy. This latest brief introduces three publicly available tools designed to improve how circular economy strategies are analysed, compared, and integrated into policy and decision-making processes.
At the core of this Policy Brief are three complementary CIRCOMOD tools:
 * An open database providing harmonised baseline and scenario results across multiple circular economy pathways
 * An interactive dashboard that allows users to explore and compare circular economy scenarios in an accessible and dynamic way
 * Circular Economy Profiles, which present detailed insights into circular performance and scenario impacts by material, sector, and region
Together, these tools enable users to systematically compare circular economy strategies across different materials, sectors, and geographies. They are designed to support a wide range of applications, including analysis, reporting, benchmarking, and stakeholder consultation.
Addressing a critical gap in climate and economic modelling
Circular economy strategies are increasingly recognised as essential components of effective climate action. By reducing the demand for primary materials, these strategies can significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions—complementing, and in some cases exceeding, the impact of conventional decarbonisation approaches.
Despite this growing recognition, most existing climate modelling frameworks do not yet incorporate circular economy strategies in a consistent and comprehensive manner.
